In 2024, the Iowa Bicycle Coalition is proudly celebrating its 20th anniversary, marking two decades of unwavering commitment to promoting bicycle advocacy, organizing memorable events, and providing essential education across the state.

Since its inception in 2004, the Iowa Bicycle Coalition has been at the forefront of championing the rights and safety of cyclists, working tirelessly to create a more bike-friendly environment for the community. Over the years, the coalition has played a pivotal role in influencing policy decisions, advocating for infrastructure improvements, and fostering a culture of cycling across Iowa.

The milestone anniversary is a testament to the organization’s dedication to fostering a vibrant cycling community. Throughout the years, the Iowa Bicycle Coalition has successfully organized numerous events that have not only brought cyclists together but also raised awareness about the benefits of cycling for both individuals and the environment.

The coalition has curated events catering to cyclists of all ages and skill levels, from fun family friend bike rides like the BACoon that generate half a million in economic impact to local Mountain Bike Festivals in Coralville. These events have not only served as a platform for the cycling community to come together but have also been instrumental in promoting a healthy and active lifestyle.

Education has been a cornerstone of the Iowa Bicycle Coalition’s mission. The organization has worked tirelessly to provide valuable resources and training programs aimed at ensuring the safety and well-being of cyclists on the road. By collaborating with schools, local communities, and government agencies, the coalition has been a driving force in spreading awareness about responsible cycling practices.

To mark this significant milestone, the Iowa Bicycle Coalition is releasing our special 20th anniversary branding as well as elevating the Iowa Bike Expo and Route Announcement Party with RAGBRAI to the next level. We will bring together members, supporters, and partners who have played a crucial role in the organization’s journey over the past two decades. Attendees can expect a day filled with nostalgia, camaraderie, and a shared passion for cycling.

As the Iowa Bicycle Coalition looks back on its remarkable journey, it also looks forward to the continued growth of the cycling community in Iowa. The organization remains committed to its mission of advocating for safer cycling infrastructure, organizing engaging events, and providing educational resources for cyclists.
